- Retroactive inventory, to recalculate stock levels at a past date
- Accounting inventory, to record stock levels at a closing date

Manage valuation, depreciation and stock sizing
The inventory management module automatically sizes your stock according to your own parameters. Calculate stock valuation and depreciation quickly and intuitively.
Monitor stock turnover
Every stock movement is recorded in Synoptic ERP: run date-to-date analyses of all movements and rank items by number of movements, by quantity and more.
Ensure full traceability of your products
The inventory management module ensures full traceability of your products. It works on terminals (barcode scanning) or through the WMS module for companies with a more structured warehouse.
- Downstream: find the finished products made and the customers delivered from a given raw material
- Upstream: find the materials used in a given finished product
- Full: find the finished products made with the same materials as a given finished product

Anticipate needs with net requirements calculation
Synoptic ERP builds net requirements calculation (MRP II) directly into inventory management.
By cross-referencing available stock levels, open orders and reservations, it generates replenishment and production suggestions consistent with your actual order book. It works natively with the procurement management module.

Manage consignment stock
Record goods sent to a customer with a delivery note, place the shipped stock on consignment, enter consigned stock consumption to issue it from stock and automatically invoice the stock consumed.
Organize your stock depots
Record goods sent to a remote depot with a delivery note, then the receipt at the depot through automatic return of the shipment: you save time and work more efficiently.

Stock and warehouse
From location and lot management to pallet-level WMS
Synoptic ERP’s inventory management tracks your items by location, by lot or by location/lot combination, and traceability works on terminals, by barcode scanning.
For companies with a more structured warehouse, the WMS module refines this management down to the pallet: contents of each pallet, transfer tasks, picking and detailed inventory counts.
- Stock by location and lot
- Barcode scanning
- Pallet-level WMS
Thanks to its powerful stock management tools, Synoptic ERP allows us to better organize our workshops and to meet customer deadlines more accurately.

Frequently asked questions about inventory management
What is the difference between the FIFO and FEFO methods?
The FIFO (First In, First Out) method consists of issuing the oldest items from stock first. It is both a physical warehouse management rule and an accounting method for inventory valuation.
The FEFO (First Expired, First Out) method consists of issuing first the items whose expiry date is closest, regardless of when they entered stock. Sectors concerned: food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics.
What is safety stock?
Safety stock is a minimum quantity kept on hand at all times to absorb uncertainties: supplier delays, unexpected demand, changes in consumption. It is calculated from the variability of lead times and consumption.
In the ERP: safety stock is an item parameter that automatically triggers a replenishment proposal as soon as the available level falls below the defined threshold.
What is a rolling inventory?
A rolling inventory, also called cycle counting, means counting part of the stock at regular intervals throughout the year rather than all of it at once. Combined with a perpetual inventory, it can reduce or replace the full year-end count, subject to the agreement of your accountant or statutory auditor.
What are lot numbers and serial numbers used for?
A lot number identifies a set of products manufactured under the same conditions. A serial number identifies one unique product. These identifiers are the key to upstream and downstream traceability in the ERP.
Downstream traceability: which customer received lot no. X? Upstream traceability: which raw materials were used to make this lot, and which supplier did they come from?
What is a WMS?
A WMS (Warehouse Management System) is software dedicated to the physical management of the warehouse: receiving goods, putaway to storage locations, order picking, shipping and inventory counts. It can be integrated into the ERP or run alongside it through an interface.
In Synoptic ERP, the WMS module refines inventory management down to the pallet.
